  2. It does, especially once I changed the throws on the elevators an put in a 1500 battery like I balanced it for instead of the 2200 one. ;)

  5. Couple quick flights before the deep freeze sets in again, wind dropped but so are the temps.

The new proto type PI SU-30SM, flight #3, this guy flies really nice. :)

Double Ugly finally made it off the ground for more then .0005 of a second, heck even landed it. Still wants to dive though, needed a lot of elevator to keep it up. May try remounting the front (forward swept) wing at a angle, bottom plate is square to the fuse and I think it has zero lift if not the opposite the way it sits.

I finally flew something today after too long off the controls. I little snow scooting than took it for a spin around the sky. 0084DF84-5CA9-4B86-9680-D8DB5B2F75F4.jpeg

It's been 3 weeks and even though it was -7c, I had to get my fix with a couple of short flights.....just what I needed.

That looked like it was fun.

  12. Hey, you land a lot better when you are restricted to a small strip. ;) -7 , can't wait to get back up to those temps, as long as the wind is down it's not to bad.

Finally had a flying day today so took a few planes up for a bit of fun at the airfield.

    received_10156031840276639.jpeg

These were the two I wanted to get in the air more than any other...

    IMG_20180114_133757.jpg

The Edge worked fairly well but was very tail heavy despite being balanced according to spec. So when the thing stalled out at the end of the first flight I hadn't got anything to get it to pull out again so ended up breaking one of the undercarriage legs and damaging the forward fuselage so a bit more printing is currently taking place to get it back into service. It also felt quite underpowered which is strange as it should have reasonable pull using an 1100kv 3530 motor and 11x5.5 prop so I may try a different setup next time out and see if I can get some more grunt from it.

Here's the video of the three flights today..

Also flew the Gotha P.60 and Concorde a couple of times and did a few tests with the new clone FrSky receiver on my thrust vectoring plane but I swapped camera for warm hat as it was bloody cold and a bit windy to say the least...

All in all though a good flying day - first of 2018 and first for a month but great to get back behind the sticks again :)

Nice work on the Homey 1 Kenobi !

What makes it fly quieter than the FT Mini Arrow?

    Thanks for posting!

    Thanks, Jim.

I'm using an apc 6x4 on Homey and a 6x4.5 bullnose on the Arrow. Bullnose seem to be a bit noisier.

I just got a new action camera (go pro clone) and wanted to try it out. I was pretty lucky to get my flight in the view on the first try. My subject today is my ornithopter "Avi". It's a blast to fly and can be flown indoors also. The tail feathers are adjustable, all the way down for fast flight and for indoors raise the tail up and she does high alpha. I've had her at altitude and drawn in numerous birds checking her out. I'm glad to have a camera now so I can capture flights of my other planes. Stay tuned....

    And the video...

    Big Jim!

    Ain’t that Hydra-Plane a Hoot!

    Yours is a nice one.

This thing is such a fun flyer, it even makes for a pretty decent go-cart or rock crawler :)

RCPowers hit it out of the park with that little jewel.
