  2. I finally got some time today and cut out all the parts on my vacuum table upgraded CNC...
I was expecting more parts, I am hoping I havent missed any...

Also, I dont notice CF slot on plans so I am assuming I dont need one on this plane...
    Can somebody confirm this?

  3. That looks strange ;)

  4. The top nose piece with hatch, I have cut it a little differently to fit on one of my spare sheets of foam but it should be good :)

malukk, That is correct, no CF needed.

  6. Thanks Lars!

Also I noticed big notches vs. small tabs?

I am guessing this is so that one could adjust the placement depending on size of motor?[IMG]

It'll take a pretty good hit too and hold up. The only real delicate area I've experienced is where nose fold meets the frame.

Touch down a little nose heavy it it can crack and let go. Normally I glass that area and it resolved that issue.

I'd show you a photo how I did it but I'm out of town right now on business.

  11. I am waiting for my rgb LEDs so build is on hold for now...

  13. Alrighty...
Got my LEDs and I have started to play around with them...
I have just begun to test out the different colors and combination thereof that can be used on my build...
Using the WS2812 addressable LEDs controlled by an Arduino NANO board...
I am simply powering the lights using a 3A BEC on my ESC...

Here is a video of it:

Next thing is to install this onto my AlphaJet MK2, finish the build (coming along really slowly ) and do some night flying...

Oh sure....just had to do it didn't ya. One up'd me again.

This is just too cool Kk. I live for the tinker toy extra's too and this simply demands some attention.....thinking....the things you can do with that.

  15. Hehe...
Its so much fun Tom to play with these things... I am loving this setup for sure and they are super-duper brighter than the once I have from headsuprc...

Next, I am planning to test a code with arduino to get afterburner lights changing with throttle input... Planning to put the afterburners on the FRC F-22...

Will post a video once I get it working... :)
You should try it too! A lot of fun!!

  16. That's so cool Maluk. All those changing lights should make it really fun to keep perspective. :D

  17. Some progress on "painting with light"... Wanted to post what direction I'll be going in... I am going with the "hot-rod" paint scheme with the flame templates included in the plans...

First, I spray painted the -ve template for flames with black color on the inside:

    FullSizeRender.jpg

Then turned the LEDs on and these are the results with some testing... The camera quality is not so great so the pictures are blurry... It looks much much better than the pictures... Red and blue are my favorites so far...

Here its with combination of few colors:

I also plan on putting the electroluminescent glow-wire, not yet sure on the pattern... Thinking of putting some mean eyes on it and may be also outline the rudders... Any ideas/suggestions are welcome!

  18. Made a small video of the "final version"....

You can notice I have the LEDs to mimic the actual "burning" flames:
