Regarding Dave's PVC camera sight, Great Idea!

I am guessing that tracking a fast, small moving target within the small circle of view is difficult and possibly can remove your focus of flying the plane. Also, the extended relief from your eye to the tube further narrows that field of view.

As a suggestion, fashion a wire frame (like a hanger) in either 3:4 or 16:9 rectangle and mount it where the tube site is currently located. Have the wire frame size match what the camera is recording to what your eyes are seeing.

Now the entire sky is visible and you only need to keep your plane located in the wire frame to assure it is being recorded. Tracking should be easier because you have a larger aiming field of view.
