Well, BigBird met his demise at my hands so I need a replacement. Really like the motor placement on the SU-30v4, keeps the weight centralized for crisp handling. Basic bird will be first so I have something to fly. Built from $tore foam, hardwood spars, and some balsa/bamboo where needed for protection/strength. RCX2820-970kv w/9x6E on 6s = 1090 watts without getting warm, best $17 I ever spent.

Nice! I’m finishing one with dtf and carbon tubing, elevons only just to thrash around. No kf yet—maybe later. You?

Kfs definitely. I'll need the strength the extra foam affords, plus I like the way the airfoils enhance low speed performance. Wing plate done, 3M "flags" for hinges.

Looks great Grantman! This was such a fun plane to fly. I did it with an 7x5 prop and 2s set up. Super light and so easy to fly low. I felt so confident with it. What power system you putting on it?

Thanks Homey, you'd be amazed at what you can hide with white Gorilla glue :D
Almost done, canopy and KFs are the only foam bits left. Bit of balsa for the wing and canard LEs left to do also.

Last piece of foam, now a bunch of shaping and sanding. Not yet sure how pretty it gets to be.

Got the control rods done, 3mm cf tube + 1/16" piano wire ends epoxied in. Lil' rhinoplasty on the nose. Some shaping on the intakes.

The Su-30 is a great plane, it was the first plane i built in my scratchbuilding journey and i learned how to fly.....eventually it was more glue than foam but it was fantastic.
