From a general construction standpoint I still think this is Dave's best design.

hey guys, Im going to be putting a super megajet V2 on this bird. I having trouble finding the right pusher prop for it. all I have is a APC 6 X 4 it calls for a 6 X 5.5 any ideas?

  13. APC builds one and my local hobby store here has them in stock. It doesn't have to be a pusher prop, just as long as it is electric. More then likely it is reverse rotation that's all, letters facing forward and reverse 2 wires on the motor, good to go.

    Cheers
    Jeff

    SU-30 V4 - build weight - Query - advice requested
My new build has come out at 410gm (airframe + 4 x 12g servos & arms only) - (AUW 650gm using an 1800mah Turnigy 3cell) is this too heavy - because using a 2700kv (240watt) and a 6 x4 prop - battery drains in approx 3 minutes and motor overheats and cuts out.
Tried a 2200kv 230 watt motor and the plane died at launch (nose plugged).

Here in South Africa Foamboard is not available - so used XPS(isoboard) which is extruded polystyrene(used in the building industry for ceiling cornices) and ironed on very thin micron clear PET laminate (document laminate) - this gives incredible strength and flexibilty to the brittle XPS

  17. It sounds like you have a problem with your esc too. What brand of motor are you using plus what is the esc?

Can you post links to the Motor/ESC/Prop used? Is your prop put on correctly (numbers on prop facing the front)? does your Motor turn in the correct direction?

    Hi, Gang,

This is a little cross-pollination so please bear with me. Here are some particulars from my Su-34 build:

Empty Weight (everything BUT the battery) 470 grams (16.58 ounces)
    Elevons only
    2 x 9-gram servos Hextronics
    2826 2200 KV motor Turnigy
    30-Amp ESC eMax
    1500 mAh 3S Zippy Compact (143 grams)
    6 x 4 x 3 Prop

This prop was okay, but it seems that the two-blade flown later was a little better. However, my AUW would have been ~620 grams and it flew fine. That weight is very close to yours (I believe your battery is heavier than mine--175-180 grams?).

I think WildThing and Baufritz96 have a good plans: scrutinize the esc versus your other equipment; check the fundamental stuff to make sure nothing got mixed up or overlooked.

Fly safely and keep us posted,

    SukhoiLover

The recommended motor is a turnigy 2826 2200kva which produces 342 watts.
Have you calibrated your throttle and ESC?
Is your battery at least 25c?
It should be possible to get flights of around 8-10 minutes with a 2200mha battery.
Do you have your batteries charged to around 4.15 per cell?
