  1. If anything, I have a complete pre-made hardware kit to fit a Mako plane in stock.

I've put a bit of velcro on an old ball cap beak and put the camera on there . It works not to bad.

  3. Just for the sake of it Jim, what determines the horizontal and vertical cg?

Here is another video. I had a blast scooting around in the snow and flying the crap out of this plane.

The CG is fairly easy on a regular wing/tail airplane You want the "horizontal" CG to be in the center of the lift of the wing which is generally at the highest point on the airfoil. On a flying wing or delta wing it is trucker to determine. Usually some trial and error is involved. Maybe some glide tests to figure it out. On the flying wings there is a program here to determine it http://rcwingcog.a0001.net/?ckattempt=1
The vertical CG I believe would be if where you would have to hold the tail to have it hang straight up and down. I just tried it on the Mako and it is right on the wing. Same weight above and below the wing.

Has Murphy ever gotten bit by one of your planes?

It is something I worry about and would hate to see happen. He has caught up to the plane and bumped its wing and flung it around and once jumped up while I was hand launching and nudged my Mig 29 out of my hand just as I was throttling up. So far not bitten and I hope it stays that way.
I started this hobby about 3 1/2 years ago and Murphy has been with me for almost every flight. We have a perfect safety record so far.

That's good to hear and I hope the same. He sure does seem to enjoy himself. A good companion.

I finally got to the lake and did some water take offs with the Mako. I haven't flown this plane since the winter on the snow. What a great flyer this is / water take off and landings are really easy. Video later when I get home tomorrow.

You know I have not had this in water yet...and thank you for the follow up. There is a run off pond thing where my daughter lives and I've been tempted to play on that.

Thank you for the follow up and you're right. It's just an easy and fun plane to fly in its own right.

Here is a twilight flight with the slow boat under LED lights. It was a nice tame flight but I need a bit more power on this plane. I can see a higher kv motor in it's future.

  16. Very nice Jim! High quality videos and loved watching you fly those planes... Mako looks just so good both in air and water...

  20. So... wifey has finally picked this plane to begin painting on the 3 planes I have built so far...

She says this plane has a sporty look so decided to go with the checkers paint scheme. This plane can taken unusual colors so went with teal. Here are some pics of progress.

    More to come...
