  1. I have yet to fly a plane with flaps. :D :D , I do think the wing turned out really nice.

Yup, no doubt about that, it looks nice Wild.

On a big warbird,.. in my opinion, flaps are a must.

Good move on putting in the flaps.

I think you will love them.

I will not be installing flaps because I am too lazy and I think the plane might be fairly floaty at this size.

    BB56,

I think that will make for a very good comparison between the two birds.

I love a floaty plane, even in the wind especially if it has a strong motor.

Really looking forward to seeing your finished plane, it's looking "Pimp" so far. :)

    Ya know Wild,

A Dude that flys like you do with the occasional spectator just needs a little "Theme music"!

    Aaaaaaah! SuperFly!

My wing build has turned out pretty good.
The wing is very stiff which is a good thing. I was concerned that the spars would flex too much.
The wing skins must be firmly glued to the spar and all the way round to produce this rigidity.
We have decided to give the wing tips some-under camber to reduce tip stall.

We don`t like tip stall okie86, so we are going the extra mile to try and make the P.40 a nice plane to fly:)

  9. Looks great Ian,

  10. One question , I shortened my lower plate to allow for slightly larger ailerons, yours almost looks longer, not much room from the lower plate to the trailing edge.

  11. Updated photos on the new 120% modified P-40 build, by tomorrow it should start looking like a plane. Battery bed is now fully extended to the motor mount . Extra tabs and notches for strength plus helps with assembly. Can't believe that all my extra tabs lined up along with the original ones perfectly, the fuselage almost installed itself. ;) Ran extra bracing before and after the firewall plus where the rear vertical section mounts to the battery tray. Servos are inside the cockpit, still have to mount the servos into the wing and then it can go on.

Cool. Someone is up late. I can completely relate! I love the building as well. You are a fine builder there Jeff!

  13. Thanks Peter,

I will tinker at a slow pace sometimes and always say " I will do this piece and go in" then it's one more and then another and it keeps going until it's like ok time to go to bed period. :D

Yes you are correct Jeff, I have dropped a bollock. I should have narrowed the bottom wing plate, but it can be altered.:)

  18. For some reason the cutting out of the parts I just don't like and when I get to the point of using epoxy for some reason. Working on cars I hated cleaning and repacking bearings for some reason. ;)

  19. Picture of mini me. ;) Getting closer, just need to install the NTM 2826 1200kv motor which I stole from the 3D printed spitfire, 35A esc and a 10X5 prop. :) Then the electronics and program in the flaps. :)

Looks real clean Wildthing with the servos tucked away. I love the rear quarter shot. I think you guys have nailed it with this iteration.
