NEW 2017 HYDRO JET Official Thread

Discussion in 'Scratchbuilding!' started by RCPowers, Jan 29, 2017.

  1. It used to be very cheap but I think since people have started using it for their quads the prices have gone up (almost doubled) and its usually unavailable...
It is a bit expensive here too but that stuff is just too good!

I used to put my stuff in ziploc bags, make a small hole to route wires and epoxy the opening...
That way it is easy to get access to the electronics and I am able to see if their is any water inside... i have seen people use a balloon for rc boats - that works well too

Halfway through the glue up. Nice design - pretty easy assembly.
    I like it ;)

Hey, you can only download your purchases once with this new system? Whats up with that?

That's irritating, all my old purchases are inside my downloads as usual.

Probably go with my standard red, white and blue.
I foam tac glued to assemble all parts.
Epoxied the kf to the main deck
Hot glue bead on inside seams of the sponsons.
I water tested the sponsons before I mounted them - all good.
Once the foam tac set up (last two photos) I'll put a thin bead of hot glue around the outside of the sponsons where they meet the deck.
Same with the cockpit and electro hatch

Yepp my first thought too, without the rear parts it really looks like a red/white Duck. xD
But hey, it's a great looking Duck.
Too bad that that look is only temporary.

    Decisions, decisions....

Do I build this new RCPowers plane, or finish the Drongo that has been sitting on my shelf, half done, for nearly a year.

Well, the way I look at it, if it has been sitting there for nearly a year it won't hurt to leave it there for another two days while you build the Hydro Jet:)

On my polaris i put a small hole in the top of the watertight areas that way you can drop a straw in from a trigger spray bottle and pump and water out that might get in between flights. I found that eventually some water would get in and you wouldn't know about it. This way you can always be sure its empty before flying!

Plans laid down and parts cut out. On to the next phase. Gluing.

I read all the post here and im thinking eh its ok, this people hyping it up. Then i saw the video....no hype, it looks and flies nice. Alriighttt!!! Too bad im on a mission to fix my bad habit. One that most of us have. Buy, buy buy, stock, pile up never use some of the products we buy.

For example, when 3drobotics had items for pennies i bought like 20 servo extention wire (for like 18cent each), ... aah thats 20 of every size they had, 3in,4in,6in,8in,10in,) also 9g servos from HK for $1.20 so yeah i have like 30, and ubecs from ebay at .99 each...yeah another 5 or 10, about 700 blades for cutting....i mean the list goes on and on, 4 soldering irons lol, so yeah no more buying until i have to.

Rcpowers plans purchased but not built, flitetest plans, mesarc plans, rcfoamfighter plans printed but not built,
Umx planes...about 14, more then half not unboxed, 4 e010 mini quads, 2 hmbs not finished (laptop cracked and screen bled) taranis plus still not programmed, fpv cameras vtx combos...about 7 of them, maybe more....thats just alittle example

I think i could open a store. And dont even start to think im selling any of this things, they are mine!!!!all mine!!!

So until i fly my ready to build plans, my umx'es, im not buying any more great products from rcpowers or any other products from other manufacturers. May take me years since im short on time all the time.

    Well,maybe just the horizon vtol.

One should start a thread about the EXTRA stuff we have
