Beautiful airframe and paint job!! Is it a mashup of the 18 & 22?

My all time favorite it the F-18. I found a pic on google of a stealth type F-18 that looked like the raptor so i drew up some plans and built it. It was a bit heavy woth having full functioning flaps and leading edge slats. Once they were activated it floated like bubbles do but one i deactivated them it was a brick. Im eventually going to make a larger one with more wing area

Half way through the build, i just realized that this is the legacy hornet model (probably because the thumbnail model is so beautiful that i did not notice). So why did we pick the legacy hornet over the super hornet? Does it have less drag, more efficiency, etc? This is kind of intriguing to me, and I am more of a junior at Aero, so please answer this "small" detail question.

    Hey VK,

Actually we still went off the Super Hornet shape, but we made it a bit smaller to make it sportier as well as dial down on the front wing shoulders so it has less lift in front of the CG. Our goal was to solve the issues that our previous F-18's had... one of which was too much lift in front actually made the plane more unstable. The real F-18 wing shape along with those front lifters was meant to carry heavy loads unlike our foamy counterparts. Now the V5 flies just how we hoped.

Awesome! Guess i could take that over the missing dogtooth wing! Thanks for the little insight on the V5.

After i completed modifying the F-18, here's my V5 Fleet! I am so lazy at decals and paint jobs, but hey these look gorgeous to me just black and white! The MIG will join as well, soon :) IMG_2609.jpg

I've really got to try that shallow kf2,looks like a performer.. Between having the flu and the cold sun porch, the weather is going to let me build..

    Shannon,

Those are the types of comments and comparisons that I find to be solid gold.

When looking for reasons to build the V5 F-18 over the V4, that critical analysis makes all the difference in the world when deciding to build another plane that you have already built several times starting with the V2 version.

    Thank you for posting that!

It actually does make all the difference in the world when some of the reasons for correcting flying characteristics from one version to the other are explained!

    Well done!

I would love to see more of that.

    Take care,
