  2. Very Nice Tom!! That flies so much better now... Moving the tail behind definitely resulted in a huge difference but I think with your motor angle its even better - I can see that it does not dip at all at launch!!
And same would go when you power up I assume...
Also, the first flight felt like it was a little tail heavy but the other two flights looked great!

So... did you end up raising the motor mount or did you go with a smaller prop for clearance?

  3. You really have that dialed in now... Really good work Tom and the plane looks beautiful yet!

I nudged it up higher by cheating the angles when pulling the motor mount further back.

So yeah I am still using the 9" slo fly prop.

One more thing I should add was with the smaller 1800 battery flight time was impressive. Once leveled it truly does fly very efficiently.

Actually it was the other way around. The first flight was nose heavy and the next two I had the battery shoved as far back as I could.

The third clip was the heavy flight. Carrying a 2200ma flight battery and 1000ma battery for video.

I wanted to see how it would hold that much weight into a gusty day..... I was impressed this time. It took the hits really well as apposed to how it used to instinctively climb and also how it always wanted to slide out of a slow turn. I'm not feeling any of those effects anymore.

The fourth flight I didn't record but was cute really.

I had the goggles setup and let the good ole boy who was flying next to me take the co-pilots seat. He got a real kick out that too

I flew LOS and he was in the goggles.

  8. So... Have started working on the FT - Bronco now, SLOWLY! This is going to be a twin engine, "A-tail" plane...
Will start with fixed engine to begin with but... its going to be a VERTICAL TAKE OFF AND LANDING (VTOL) plane eventually!

    Cut out parts this evening:

Its wing (no dihedral), two power pods, A-tail, two booms...
Will post build pictures as I go along...

All those razor sharp edges you can cut your finger on....

I'm doing mine the old fashioned way. Print the plan and go forward.

  10. hehe... :) That plan looks like a profile 3d plane with fins on the wing edge... What plane is that?

Wow...good eye. It's actually the FRC Sback profile. I just grabbed a plan and used it for a backdrop for the photo

  14. Looking good but I have to ask what is a A Tail? :(

  15. A-tail is combine both vertical and horizontal stabilizers angled in "A" shape...
Similar to how a V-tail looks like a "V" shape...
Will soon post pictures of it once I am done with the wings...

    Speaking of...
Grooved the center of wing and made a "hybrid spar" with foam and paint stick from Walmart...
(Simply slotted foam spar to fit wooden stick)

Put my favorite scotch tape on other side:

Finally, glued the spars in place:

  16. And done!

It was very easy and fast to put it altogether...
Now I just gotta go back to my CNC and cut some ply motor mounts... order some 920kv (DJI or emax) motors and I'll be all set!

I've finally got a start over here. I'm currently dry fitting the booms.

    ...and boom goes the dynamite

Well two booms anyway are done tonight and left to cure over night. An interesting build so far. The booms definitely tight....nicely done so far.

  20. So with the A tail, that is your elevator? For down pitch they move together and up pitch they move apart? Ailerons for roll.

    Looks cool. :)
