I'm waiting for the delivery of 3 2s lipos and some airscrews for this nice little bird ;)
It'll be my first plane of that kind and I really want it.

What skillrange is needed for the beginning?
Should I use reduced controlangles for the first flights?
How about the current with a 2212-6/2200kv motor @2s and 8x4 masterairscrew or EMP 8x3.8, does anybody know how much amps this config should draw?
If possible I wanna use a lightweight 25Amp ESC with 35Amps burst that I've lying around.

    Edit:
Burstrate was wrong and is corrected now ;)

Your a pm draw would be under 20 amp so no problem there! The major adjustment to flying a 3d plane like this is the constant use of the rudder. It will not turn without rudder - at least, not turn the was a parkjet does when you bank and yank. If you are comfortable with the rudder then you'll can leave throws pretty high and use 60 percent expo at first then dial it down as you get comfortable.

    @F1wanabe
Thanks Greg, then I have to train the use of the rudder ;)
This time my only one with a full setup is my Su-34, but I fly most time my little MIG-29v1 with elevons only or my modded F-18v4 with elevons + ailerons and I can only fly one bird at a session cause I'm going by feet to my personal flyingfield cause I have no car.

Maybe I should buy a bicycle trailer and mod it for the planes or buy a car for that hobby :D

It'll be fun. For you. Just throttle up and get It in the air until you get used to it. It floats well and is a quick build so no worries there. Just set your expo high and use small movements on your fingers and it will fly like a butterfly.

    Just stay away from trees.

Nice video showing it flying, come really nice yaw abilities there.
I plan to fly mine in the backyard around the trees.
I got small trees and tall ladders so I'm going to risk it.

Yep, the quick buildtime is one of the main arguments for me to learn with it. I think this bird is really controlsensitiv and needs a complete different sticking than my jets, so I'm sure that I will crash it several times. But another rc-pilot who is useing the same spot in the fields to fly his birds, an rc-pilot from the beginning, has only 2 planes, flying his small scratchbuild 3d more often and it looks like a lot of fun.

    Edit:
Btw, this time I have 4 big sheets (125cm x 80cm) of 6mm Depron and 2 big sheets 3mm Depron so the foam itslelf is no problem at all ;) OK, there are some other builds (planes) on my todo list (wishlist), but I have to select what I really want cause the storageroom in my little singleapartment is limited, so this small and really different kind of bird should be perfect.

Ok, I think it's better to fly a bit more with rudders before maiden the SBACH, so I'm changing the setup of my F-18 to fly with elevons, flaperons and rudders. The weight of the F-18 is in a good range and the little more weight in the rear, caused by the added rudders, will make the batteryplacement less critical and maybe I can use the bigger 230gr 3s/2.8Ah/35c LiPos that I've bought for my SU-34. The Su has an NTM and when I saw that the ebay seller made a fault by giving 4 of this LiPos for the price of 2 (32,-€ incl. shipping) I couldn't withstand ;)

Haha, is that a steering wheel in the cockpit? You could sit on the roof and fly Dave! Bird's eye view, no trees to contend with.

Get one of those "3D reverse prop" deals and just fly the whole thing backwards.

I laughed at Shannon for drawing a STEERING WHEEL in the plane too.
She claimed that "some planes have steering wheels" but has produced no such evidence...

And by the way, I am planning to sit on the roof and fly it!
Once I get it all done I'll have a quick video.

Excellent! And I hope Shannon will get the "Dave up on the roof" footage too! Haha. Btw, I think wonder woman's plane had a steering wheel? Maybe that's what Shannon was thinking about

That was really cool Dan! Pretty fun to watch flip around like that.
I'm looking to fly mine in the yard about that big. Looks more than stable enough.

You call that flying? Lol...it was tail heavy...ailerons were reversed at the start...ailerons were not adjusted right so I had some "spoileron" action going on....and other issues hahaha....I just fixed most of it...so will get it out for another flight here soon...
