FRCFoamies Mig 29 Scale Twin Prop

Discussion in 'FRCFoamies Plans' started by F1wanabe, Feb 24, 2017.

  1. I was actually able to fly today, stopped raining and the wind was under 50k Tried out some 5x4.5 APC props, because I chipped up my 5X3 ones. ;) . I think it has better thrust with the 5X3 ones, still flew good but it had more zip to it before. I might try setting the timing to high on my esc's and see what happens

I'm still trying to catch up

I placed my servos the other way around this time. An idea i stole from Malukk that he had stolen from Tom. So now we're even again ...

I didn't like being able to look in and easily see the business end of the servos so... i built a little dog house to cover them up.[IMG]

Okay finally... everything works correctly now. I can move on to the rest of the airframe.

Looking back ....it really is a little busy in there.

Thanks, she dit quite well with a 3s battery, but some COG adjustments has to be done before next flight.

Looks great in the air, much better than prop slots in the wing...

Yes, quite OK, a kind of compromise between having them in the wing/on elevons.

    Well, Dialed in already? :)
It feels like I already have 100 flights with it!

    Changes since the first flight.
    LE slats added.
Switched from 3s to 4s battery, moved 1.5 battery lengths further back.
Switched from DYS 3-blade to DYS 4-blade props.
Overall, this made a big difference!

No 3mm EPP this time as top skin. Will use 3mm Depron instead,..will make it a little heavier.
Canopy and nose pieces in one piece.

    Material for this one.
*Reusing some parts from my crashed #1
    3mm balsa
    6mm balsa
    3mm depron
Main spine, main ving, vert stab, 6mm Depron.

I had an issue with my first build trying to keep canopy hatch on. Then i thought I'd fasten that sucker down for real this time so.... i got busy.

    A nylon bolt.
    A wing nut.
    Some uber thin ply.
    6mm cf tube
    Foam tac and some 'poxy

Nice! A nylon screw for wings makes the trick Tom :)
