110 is enough to accommodate 6 inch propellers. 110% gives you about 50 mm wider wingspan. I use 3mm EPP for the top skin = a rough surface but weighs less than Depron. Otherwise 6 and 3mm genuine Depron.

..... yeah and he's working outside the box too. Fascinating stuff though.

I stayed with the plan and learned a few things from my first build. First off i know i needed more support. It wasn't bad exactly... just a little more flexy than i prefer to see. I add a 3mm spar along the tail and used foam tac hinges along the slats line. I was never happy with taping that area.

I CA'd 1x3 strap along the leading edges and into the elevators for a little stiffer flex.

I stayed with foam tac (glassing) type hinges and did not suffer any issues reference the tail hinge. I did have issues with my control horns though and come to find out, was the root cause for busting up my nose in first place thus bringing me to .... here !!

Moral of the story: i seriously need to get some better control horns for this build. There's more torque there than had prepared for. [IMG]

  5. I havent flown enough of this to test the kind of control horns I used (ones that go thru and have snap-on locks on other end) but... have done others where you glue a super thin ply and screw in the control horns (DuBro ones)... pretty strong!

    .... right

I was trying to avoid having something show through the top surface. Not likely in this scenario i guess ?

I will most likely tac on a small layer of veneer both sides and use the middle one.

  8. Yes!! I am using the one shown on the right side...

And yes, the thinnest ply my hobby store sells is like a veneer but they call it ply... I even make a small notch in the foam to fit the veneer flush to foam surface - just like a groove for CF rod!

If you plan on using veneer with those dubro horns, just make sure to pre-drill the holes on veneer before gluing it to the foam... its pain in the butt to do it afterwards and may not come clean... learned it the hard way of course...

I am gone try to use a turnigy v tail /elevon mixer to get differential thrust.

  14. You would still have to mix another throttle channel wouldn't you? You need 2 inputs.

It is very simpel, elevons up and down are throttle up and down, then when you put the stick left or right then one channel wil go down and the other one will go up like elevons do so one motor will go faster and one slower. You have to use opto esc's and a loos bec
