Discussion in 'FRCFoamies Plans' started by F1wanabe, Mar 7, 2015.

  1. Looking forward for the video...

Also, can you imagine the performance of Mig2.88 with twin motors and blended wing body? Hint hint...

That's what I have on my second 2.88, at least on the wing root extensions.;)

I took several planes out to fly yesterday.

    In particular the Mig 2.88.

I built that plane for some very specific reasons.
I wanted a plane that hides the prop on landings and take offs to prevent prop strikes.

I also wanted a plane that can easily fly in a very short field without sacrificing aerobatics or speed.

I also wanted a plane that takes off easily and is simple to fly.

The ATF Mig 2.88 meets all those needs for me.

With the sun directly in my eyes on the first flight I dirt napped it right after take off. That filled it full of grass and broke the fuselage in two underneath. I should have taken it in for quick repairs but decided to see if it would fly with the fuseslage Busted,.,,. IT DOES! :p

On the last pass the fuselage broke cleanly on the initial break and will be an easy repair.

    I used a DYS BB2208 2600KV Motor throwing a Master Airscrew 6x4x3 prop, Skywalker 40A esc, Devention receiver and TX with a 3-cell 1400mah 50C Multi-Star battery.

This plane, better than most checks off all the box’s for the way I fly the most.

Fun plane to fly, rugged and flys even with the fuse dorked up. :)

It is a great all around plane...even when silly thumbed into the ground

    Yup!

The nose was bent up slightly from the first dirt nap but that had little to no affect on the second flight.

I had problems getting the CG correct with battery placement on the initial build but Greg and a few others helped out with that.

It’s well balanced and flys well, especially if not “silly thumbed into the ground”.

    :p

It makes me want to take mine out again, haha. Glad it checks all your boxes, FBK22! That was the main idea when Jay and I started working on it. And yes, we designed it to fly better with a broken fuselage :D

Hmmm...... now I'm thinking about Blue Kow 2! Nice winter project. I love how this flies and super stable as well!

This build will be the 110 scale twin..... oh boy.

Thank you Kk for straightening out my print a little better. I did bring home the paper plan this afternoon and it's raining. It sort of writes it's own story from there

It's been awhile since I've visited this thread. This is the time of year I try to align my fleet for next season. Here we go again [IMG]

  11. I think I am going to cut a kit for myself too and start building another one! May be this time with the quad motors...

Where will you put the other 2 motors?

  14. I was planning to put 2 race quad motors not 4 motors :p I think what airflow does would be a little too much for me . Race quad motors with 5x3 props would be a great setup just like what I have on the FRC Mig-29. My first setup was with two microjet v3 motors...

Excellent Malukk! I still have the kit you made for me and I really have no excuse not to build it. I have the two quad motors for my FRC Mig that i never used as well!

... okay now to try and catch up with Malukk.

I don't have a CNC machine so I have to do it the ole fashioned way.

  18. Awesome! Please post pictures as you go along the build process...

I have activated the canards with a simple all CF setup. Saw this mechanism last night as I was going thru old posts and someone had done it this way (jimbosflying? Can’t remember) really liked it so implementing it... excuse the wet marks of CA activator on the foam...

Now hope that Greg catches up as well
