FRCFoamies Mig 2.88 AFC- Plan Available!

  1. Now thats a big motor on there...
This plane can handle a lot of wing loading but it would work best with low loading...
Also, with that motor, i want to get your thoughts on torque roll when you do your maiden...

    Very clean build!

    Hey malukk,

    Thanks man.

I may or may not use the NTM on this Mig.

I just got these new 3-blades in that are stouter than the 3-blade Master Airscrew prop.

Generally one of the advantages of using a
3-blade prop is the reduction they provide in torque roll.

That might change with the torquey NTM and this aggressive biting 6x4.5x3 prop.

I have a Turnigy Thrust Stand that I will be running some tests on this particular power setup before I completely decide what to use.

I have a NTM 3000KV and a Power Up 450 Zoom I am also considering but until I run them on the stand with this new 3-blade prop I won't make a decision on which motor/ESC/Prop to use.

But I would like to use this new 3-blade if it pans out during testing.

The 450 on a 3 blade prop is awesome it's what I had on there. But, the ntm should be just fine because I never felt torque roll except when vertical

    WowZaw Lars!

You never cease to amaze me!

    You take that old saying;

"Go Big or Stay Home!",.. to a whole nother level.

"I like that in a pilot!"

    F1,

The Power Up 450 Zoom is probably the best all around parkjet motor I have used.

It puts out plenty of thrust and is a bit lighter than the NTM.

I've heard a few guys complain about the Zoom but I have never ever had a problem with them.

I have several and have run them extremely hard on my thrust stand and they have been very very reliable, even when over propped.

    "OMG, The Guppy Thread"?

Did you crash the 2.88 on its maiden?

Oops,.. never mind, sorry, just another senile moment.

    Lars,
You mean back in the "OMG, Guppy days",.. Right? :)

You should build the Guppy again. Mine is still flying. Just did the remix mod on it but haven't taken it out to fly with it like that yet.

I plan to build another Guppy only lighter with KF2s only.

I like that plane, Maybe because it's old looking, fat and slow, like me

    malukk,

    Yup,

I've been staring at the bird for the last ten minutes wondering the exact same thing.

Wondering now if I should cut out slats then lay KF2s on top and notch them out or lay down KF2s then cut through both layers of foam for the LE slats?

Either way I guess would work.

...Oh.. the X-32 ... Thanks for the reminder FBK;) almost forgotten that it still remains there on the woodpile... haha!

Still unpainted, crashed its nose during the second or third flight... Only the empty shell lying around... but who knows...:D

A new image, a few minutes old ... I'll think about whether it's worthwhile to bring it back to life...
