Ok, the revisions are done and our test builder Tom is all but finished with the build. I've dry fitted the final plan and its excellent! So, tonight we'll button up the website and cart. Here's a quick walk around video of the plane before revisions. Since then we've got revised tail, wing fences and under camber wing. This unrevised version flew great even in these windy conditions but with no wind the slow performance was not good enough. So before releasing something we weren't happy with we did the mods. Take offs in tall grass were fine, but I've enlarged the wheels so that I'll be able to land in the tall grass. This is just a quick video to hold you guys over for another few hours.....

Greg, A very stylish design, including color choice! That plane reminds me of my very first trainer that I once flew more than 25 years ago. I have to build this!

EDIT: Here is one, but converted to electric drive.

Very nice Greg. I like shooting touch-n-gos and it's tough doing that with the parkjets. ;) Looks like this will be my next build. What is the recommended power setup for this plane?

Thank you, sir! I'm using the heads up 400 sport with the 9x4.5, but I would like to try an 8 inch prop - maybe 3 blade - so that I can get the rpms up for take off. At 20 oz the 9x4.5 prop is pulling strong at under 1/2 throttle that I feel like I'd have better control with a smaller prop. That motor is an excellent lightweight power house for larger props. I'm using a 30 amp esc but 20 is fine.

don't worry, I will do that Jay, the same kind of flaps that I used on my Precedent T-180

Thanks, guys, for all the support! This is a really cool plane for sure. One other point I'd like to add to Jay's flap point : THIS IS A RUDDER PLANE! It's not a bank and yank because, like most straight wing planes, they wing tip stall in banking turns. We saw one of our test pilots really struggling with it and this was the primary reason for our last minute mods. We've dialed a lot of it out but still

Cool... Highlander II has some color on her finally.

I think it's easier to paint the fuse and wing separately and then join them together.

Today's task was to build a wing. I hadn't yet built Jay's newer under camber wing fold and well....today was the day.

Yes it does look odd once all cut out. I worried a couple times looking back was I really supposed to cut that much off....where's the rest of it ??

I used 5g servos and layed them flat as part of the wing surface. I didn't wanna see servos sticking out from underneath.

I would like to say thanks to Jay and Greg for sending me a pre-release set of plans. I feel honored that they trusted me to test out this new design. Here is some pictures of the original build. IMG_0941[1].JPG IMG_0943[1].JPG IMG_0944[1].JPG
Since my first flights Jay and Grey looked at the flight videos and made some changes to make it fly better. My first flights were a bit unstable. They added some size to the tail and created an under camber on the wing tips. I received the revised plans last night and today I modified my build to bring it up to date with the final plans. What a difference this made to the flight characteristics. IMG_0981[1].JPG IMG_0982[1].JPG

Here is the new maiden with the mods complete.
