Floats in place, to be tested as soon as I get tired of the EF.

I've seen you take off from but.

...can you land it back on a picnic table Tom ?

"Heh...heh watch this". I come down a little too aggressive and bounced off the picnic table. Easy fix yeah but I sorta took this plane out of service the rest of the day.

I like the floats Lars and they look right too ..well done.

Thank you Tom, I hope they work as intended, it could be that I need to change to a more powerful motor now.

Oops, it looks a little abused... But good to hear that it is possible to repair it! Perhaps the best way is to serve edible things exclusively! on the picnic table in the future.:D

    Pontoon Maiden on snow.
Unfortunately snow on the ground. But it will not stop me, just the wind...

A quick paint job has been done for better visibility, white EPP is far from a good combination in a snowy landscape.

On the same motor and battery, so the plane will be affected by the extra weight and drag of the pontoons.
    Old weight 11.3
    New weight. 14.5oz

  6. You mean you can't see white on white??? :D Looks good, might have to build some for the Spitfire for winter flying.

    FRC HighLander, maiden with floats

From 11.3 to 14.6 oz, still alot of lift left.

1080pHD A close to the lens bushflight with floats.

Wow, beautiful Lars, still looked really light even with the pontoons! Very nice experiment!

Yes Greg, it does! It's a perfect one for the winter when the ground is frozen and hard as a rock, lightweight and durable! Tried a 450mAh today :) Down to 13.8 oz now, video later.

  13. Just have to watch out for foot print holes in the snow when landing. ;)

Nice work Lars. You've really lightened up your frame a bunch anymore.

    Ouch !!

I just love that slight of touch method of flying...hanging on a string.

    Very nice and thank you.

  19. Yeah... I have watched this video a couple of times now... I see LE slats, flaps size ~half the length of wing...lot of rudder control and mainly the pilot keeps high angle of attack!

Tom - you tried the LE slats on this, correct? any significant difference in the performance?

  20. Yeah I saw that one already, what 1' maybe. It almost looks like he puts the prop in reverse sometimes.

What I don't get do they have a special clutch to engage the prop when he wants? It stops completely and I can't see him starting and stopping the engine unless he's just using a big as8 starter and a good battery.
