Good fit as usual, nothing to complain about so far.

....about time you caught up to this thread.

Eager to see what you make of it.

I see you didn't do the fold for the fuse but sliced individual pieces.

  3. Looks good! Is that the Emax GT2215, 1180kv motor on there?
What prop do you plan on using?
Trying to figure out what would be the best power option?

What ever combination of setup you use...

A 9 inch will work on smooth surfaces but on grass I found myself mowing the lawn once in awhile.

I've since been using a 150'ish watt motor and an 8 inch prop.

    Plenty of lift.

  5. Hmm... Ok, then I should order a new emax 1400kv motor that can take 8x4x3 prop, since my old motor died as the windings came off!

    You beat me to it

I just added that to my previous post. Yes ... I've had very good luck with that motor. They forever out perform what it is spec'd for. Very efficient little hummer.

...and getting harder to find too

  7. Lol, Thanks for the input Tom! I know that little motor performs really well!

I've just been using an 8x3.8 slow fly prop..... and it fit the spinner too

I had a much stiffer 8x5 on there but it felt almost too aggressive here, if that makes any sense. I preferred the softer snap of the slow fly prop better for some reason.

Tom, I don't like to fold over like that on conventional airframes. The frame can be twisted... Prefer to build it the same way as a balsa construction, sheet by sheet...gonna use sandpaper on all the sharp edges afterwards.

  10. I have that motor but not the prop. Hmmmm

Malukk, It's a 1100kv... eh.. will Check the numbers on that motor to be sure... I had an 10X4.7 On the RCP Extra, and I'm gonna go for that prop on this one too, to see how it goes...:)

    Here Malukk,
    GT-2215-10-1000kv
Recommended propeller: APC 10x4.7 SF alt. APC E 10x5 (3S LIPO)

I bought that motor at RCFlight.se. In Swedish... but I think you get the specifications.

I did the same wing on my first build. Ribbed all the way across with a 6mm lower and 3mm upper skin. I had no under chamfer on that one at all. Running that with about 20% flaperon was very light and comfortable to fly.

Switching to the under chamfer wing I found it added that extra lift i was using flaperons for earlier....now only built in. I played with adding flaperons again and think that I maybe went as much as 5% and found that to be plenty.

So both wing shapes do have there advantages.

-No real weight gain/losses either way.
-The 6mm lower x 3mm upper was more floaty. Slower reactions.
-The under chamfer wing offers good lift less floaty, it reacts quicker.

    Thanks for the info, Tom.
Sounds very interesting, the advantage of a conventional aircraft is that you can have several different types of wings to it. I will build my first wing like a balsa wing, with a real aerofoil, Clark-Y. Material 3mm EPP skin and 2 mm balsa ribs.

Then if want to really slow her down I added some leading edge fences. The only issue there is a good gust of wind will beat against you pretty hard now. It can be a handful to land gracefully in a cross wind.

It did need a layer of Lars coating though. A couple of ground strikes loosened her up a little bit.

Exactly Tom, LEFs. I'll use it as an option, out of 2 mm balsa. Yes wrapping paper saves the leading edges of the wings, Vert/Hor stabilizers etc.;)

Looks good Lars! FYI we made a few changes to the wing in order to make it a stable slow flier and it is so much more stable than it was with a strait airfoil. We take no responsibility for how it flies with modifications, haha! Do you have the final plans with revised wing? I'll email you just to be sure.

Greg, don't worry! I will build a "straight out of the box wing" as well :)
Except that I will use EPP instead of Depron. And then, balsa instead of a carbon, to make the wing as light as possible.
I cannot find any edition numbers.. but I think I have the latest edition of the plans.

    Jay,
Downloaded the file via the link in the email I received, and then, once again the day before I started. To be sure, I'll do it once again from the website, thanks!
