Jim, if that's 850 with battery then you are fine! The plane does generate a lot of lift like malukk says, and it flies really scale at heavier weights. Just need to keep the speed up too. There's a couple f22's here North of 32 oz that flew well! I tried two set ups: elevons rudders and spoilers (the "inside" aileron only moved up in a turn) and elevons, ailerons rudders and flaps. The flaps are nice on this and if you do use flaps then landing speeds can be greatly reduced for your heavier bird. And as Dave says, exaggerated rudder action is good on the F22 since airflow can be blocked to the stabilizers, although ours are huge for that reason . If you have a 6x3 emp prop for your motor you should be fine with thrust! But you need to make sure the emp props are balanced. That's one drawback of them. But they do put out thrust! Good luck with the flight!

It was a good morning for a maiden flight. Here is the video. It went perfectly. Great design guys. I have no need to be worried about the power. 2016-03-19 (5).png 2016-03-19 (13).png 2016-03-19 (10).png

  3. Very cool!
It sounded pretty windy but you were flying right along and importantly you seemed to enjoy the flying.... This is a great flyer isnt it?
With all that weight it still slows down pretty good - well done!

Wow, Jim, that was such a good maiden flight! The video quality too.

Super smooth and you looked comfortable with it right away. Great paint scheme! The thing looked light, didn't it? You can start to pull back the cg a little at a time if you want and see a little bit sportier performance on elevons only. That would also help with the flaps. We go conservative on the stock cg, but this plane is super flexible. You're right : plenty of power! So overall, what are your thoughts?

Nice. Using my GoPro takes forever to upload to the computer and reformat for editing. Then after editing it has to reformat and then upload to YouTube. Takes forever.

I was very pleased. Super stable and slowes down really nice. You're right it didn't feel heavy. Next flight I'll move the battery back a bit and try again. Also need to reduce the travel on the ailerons a bit. The roll was fun but hard to control during regular crusing around. Maybe some expo would help. I usually put in about 30% but totally forgot.
I love it already flys great and looks great doing it.

I think it was the dreaded right is left when coming towards yourself. Not often but sometimes it catches up with me. This plane is quick in the roll and before I knew it I almost piled it into the ground. I thought I was going to need a bag to carry it home.

  15. Little bit of 3D action. :)

Wow! Greg, it looks awesome with the scale blended wing/body design! will increase lift in slow flights, and stability in high speed straight runs.

Just as obvious as amen in the church... (If I don't get any own ideas.)
...that someone else (Tom;)) will sow a seed in my brain ... Wohoo! 120 scale, lightweight twin mount with differential thrust!?:p

  20. Had a very good day yesterday so took my F22 out for flying...
The more I fly this plane the more I am liking it.... Flaps are sooo good on this - it slows down beautifully!

    Heres a video:

Best rear mount flyer for sure!
