Oh by the way, I put some ailerons in my F-14.
And as F1 mentioned with the real Tomcat, the act more like "spoilerons" only.
They mostly move UP and not so much down.
I "mixed" it by off setting my control arm. That's right.

Depron? Oh man, how some did some of that get in there? Yeah, its an "all scraps hybrid".
The plane is just a bunch of little triangle shaped parts that happen to fit like every one of my scraps in the scrap box. Give me just one more edge of flying like I don't care.

Haha, sounds like you have been talking to jettamandan! I save all my scraps but still go for a full sheet when building something new, got a box full of decent sized depron! Go figure!

you guys have NO CLUE! I just pulled down my "scraps" bag yesterday....30 gallon trash bag FULL of pieces of foam....i tried to sort some of it and get rid of some of the smaller pieces..but gave up after a 1/2 hour of doing it lol...then i "found" 5 full sheets of gray depron i forgot i had! lol - needless to say my F-14 will be mostly grey depron..but will have white wings and white nose...a bad fever stopped me from doing more...but i just have the center plate to cut out now and then i can start assembling...

if someone wants to pay shipping i'll send this whole bag of scrap foam to them ;)

Ha! I'll pay for shipping to send it here. But I don't want my new foam scraps showing up here damaged. So take those 5 full sheets of depron and use them as packing to protect the scraps while shipping. Paypal sent.

That off season control arm? Looks like a mistake at first, then becomes sheer genius after your explanation! Genius!

Time for making professional photos and witty banter....where is the video? Seeng it perform with "ailernots" may make me second guess my decision to fix the wings swept...

OK Guys i've made some progress on mine...i'm starting to hate cutting out plans! I need someone to laser cut me stuff..any offers? lol....as mentioned already..once you cut this out the build is pretty quick...

but as usual with me..i'm making a change or 2...

    first...some build pics...

    IMG_20151112_070250300.jpg

the wings done...i jumped ahead (probably dumb) and just laminated the top plate onto the bottom plate..oh well ;)

    IMG_20151112_072628097.jpg

top plate cut and BBQ'd! lol

    IMG_20151113_084019731_HDR.jpg

    nacelles and tail taking shape...

now here is where i skipped around a bit...i did my canopy/vertical fuse last..so i just started gluing the main parts first...

    IMG_20151113_094711180_HDR.jpg

then glued the top plate on...

    IMG_20151113_100702648_HDR.jpg

then did some added the vertical fuse....

now..here is a change i made....i dislike trying to fit a battery into the space between the lower vertical fuse and a nacell - so...i just cut it out...the lower vertical fuse that is...i don't see that it added much in the way of strength anyway....and i modded the motor mount to compensate...so here are some pics...

    IMG_20151113_102725009.jpg

    dry fit of vertical...

and then how i cut out the lower section...

    IMG_20151113_104435393_HDR.jpg

another pic of the space it leaves....

    IMG_20151113_104458508.jpg

now...i have tons of room for a lipo...and easy ace's to get it in and out when i add velcro...

and a pic of my modded motor mount setup...

    IMG_20151113_104443851.jpg

then a dry fit of the rear section and the wings...

    IMG_20151113_105924233.jpg

due to FED50H's assertion that full sweep is best..i may just fix my wings in place like that....not sure yet...

right now my motor mount is gluing up....i'm gonna go big time with power...450 zoom and a 60 amp esc..may try 4S on this...not sure...

but that is where i am now...

Mixing foam that way offers a pre-painted layout too.

Saves a ton of time not having to paint.

I've noted on the battery compartment too. .. thank you for the heads up.

Excellent Dan, looks really good! On the prototype I did the same thing with the battery and it's fine. I've got esc and battery side by side up there so your set up gives a little more room for that. Plus centered battery helps rolls and you can still go off center for torque roll if necessary. Nice!

Looks good. I hate fishing batteries inside too, but my 1800 sets far enough out to be accessible...but with your affection for hot glue, yours may be farther back

lol...i'm gonna have some issues i think with the CoG using the 450 zoom and big esc...i know i'll need some nose weight to compensate...

thanks...i'm gonna mount the esc to the wall of the nacelle and keep the battery in the middle and centered for that reason...

lol! i will still "decorate" it! making that mod for the battery just made sense to me...much easier to cut out and change while it was still dry fit only. The center lower rib just didn't do anything for it i thought...so why not? I also glued in the bottom..and now my hatch will only span between the 2 inner nacelles...it doesn't need to be super wide...and i think the extra glue bracing on the bottom will help with the structure...i will post pics of that later.
