Was going for a downwind high speed pass, and it just sheered right off!! Sounded cool. I couldn't believe it, but it flew without much fight after that elevon flew off.

Here's the raw vidya. Trimmed it down a bit, but that hasn't processed yet, so this will be the uncut version for a Hwhile.

On the uncut version, the elevon separates at around 2:23.

Then you were lucky! who chose to build such a good (FRC ) ;-) aircraft that can fly with only one elevon. 'll Check the video soon!

hehe, Well done! but it flew almost as good with just one elevon. You should put a carbon rod reinforcement before your next flight, otherwise it happens again. It reminds me of my wingtips on my MiG V3 ...

Gibby, amazing! You said it was a little tail heavy which probably helped a bit. We havent tested it on the NTM yet, so this is valuable info. That is fast, isn't it? Looks great before and after the maiden, so its good all around!

    All fixed! :)

Will get to sanding the spackle down tomorrow. Maybe tonight, since I did do it early this afternoon.

Also, this day had been PAINFULLY slow on this forum. Lol.

Thanks for the idea on the rod placement for reinforcement, Greg! :) I would've used carbon rods, but I didn't want to run to the hobby shop, and I've got PLENTY of skewers lying around. lol. Just slid the new elevator plate in on the bottom of the old one. I feel good about it.

This plane is FAST! With full thrust from the rear prop and with the sleek profile of this plane, Jay and I would like to point out a Mod that we would recommend on all high speed set ups. As Gibby has found building this with Model Plane Foam, using the NTM Prop Drive 2700 motor, the wicked top speed proved too much for the Elevon hinge area on the F18. Jay's flights with the Focal Price 2700 power system and using Depron did just fine. But, as a precaution, we are recommending that anyone planning on pushing it as fast as Gibby did reinforce the elevon mounting plate with CF rods or wooden skewers. Here is the....
    Gibby Mod!

Thanks for testing the limits, Gibby!

Nice set up Airflow! I actually liked an Elevator on the RCP f18 v2. Super stable high alpha without elevons! Roll on this will be a little less without elevons, though, so be careful!

Yeah right Greg, I'm planning a simple setup when it does not have Tv... It was a long time ago I used ailerons ... (just elevons, spoilers/flaps nowadays.) ...A year ago, on my Su, mk2 single prop version.

Wasn't meaning to test the limits when I did, but I'm glad the incident will help other MPF builders out there :) And I do dig that it has brought on a mod named after myself. lol! Pretty Cool!

Gotta tell you guys, this plane looks SOOOoooo good... I thought about making some wingtip missiles and weapons pylons for under the wings. It looks that true to scale!!!
