I was just looking at the sketchup images. That thing looks so sleek. Do you have any dimensions yet on length and wingspan?

Yes, approximately 30 inch wingspan and 40 inch length. Did you see the prototype video?

Jay just shot over the revised plans and as soon as Staples has them printed I'll begin the build of what we hope to be the final prototype before release! We'll keep you guys informed. It's getting close now!

Awesome sounds good my f15 is
Almost done so I will be ready for this when it comes out. After I crumpled up my rcpv2 I have been wanting to build another one. I will definetly build this one.

I cut the plane last night and it took under 2 hours of careful cutting. Pretty pleased with that! Other than the extra cutting for the nozzles, it's very straight forward. But, one thing Jay and I like to mention often is that, as with all our scale looking planes like the Mossie, SU37/35, F15 and A10, taking a little extra time to cut carefully pays off big time. There are several thin cuts that must be precise to look good, and most importantly, keeping the notches and tabs neat really brings things together nicely. If the notches and tabs are off, the scale looks will be off. A sharp blade really helps with that!
I will photograph the assembly as I go along. As I've been doing recently, I am doing the low weight 2s set up on this. I'll use the FP 2700kv motor on 7x4 or 7x5 prop. Jay does fast and I do slow! Haha. With that prop, though, speed should be really good.

I'd like to post some pictures of the build so far. Jay has outdone himself on this score and fold design and the small details come together really well! As I said in the last post, taking your time is essential to getting the most out of the real scale plans. I binge watched Vikings while doing this build in order to quell my impatience, haha. And, a sharp knife is definitely a good idea to get the cuts right. The plane goes together very well, but it is definitely an intermediate build. First, the finished assembly...

You may notice that I am doing full flying elevons so that linkage will be a slight challenge although not as difficult as the frcfoamies yf23 all moving surfaces.
Such a satisfying build once you are done and look back at it!
    Build pics...

Backbone and battery tray meet wing.

    Carefully slide nose into place.

Foam tac is curing. I tape it to keep it just right!

Intakes in place. This is a really sweet notch and tab design to keep them perfect, Jay!

    Canopy wraps around formers easily.

Notch and tab ensures stabilizers are angled right.

The total assembly was 4 hours, cutting was 2 and electronics will be 3 due to the elevon mods. So, 10 hours is not a bad build time for such a scale looking plane. I will limit myself to 10 min sanding or I'll go overboard on this, haha. Once we get this final plan tested we'll get on the release documentation. Not long now!

Well, I hope to have the plane outfitted tonight. But, believe it or not, snow is on the way! So, we'll see how it goes.

I really like the nose/canopy look on this bird...very nicely done.

It already looks menacingly fast and scale like...clean.

I HAVE to Ditto all the above !!! What a beautiful build !!! Having flown the RCP v3 f-18 as successfully as I have been able to..(Did I mention how terrible a pilot I am?) The scale looks of this entire aircraft is very impressive !!!!

At some point, I will build this one too !!!
This hobby makes my inner child SOO happy sometimes !!!

You are the one who taught me how;)
Totally! I have been missing my f-18 v2 for a while and this one looks even better. I think i will try the full flying elevons like how F1 is doing his (looking forward to the maiden flight!)
