I flew my "standard sized" Mossie on a 2s 2200 and it flew beautifully. As Jay says, it will pitch up quite a bit on 3s and I found it would do similar on 2s (although not as pronounced). I added some down thrust to overcome this and alsoI mixed in a little down elevator to the throttle which I could switch on and off as required if I was using 2 or 3s.

Motors and electronics installed. I put servos for rudder and elevator up front so I installed a foam wall (red arrow) to keep wires out of the way of those servos. Even without props the twins sound awesome :) Little steps closer to maiden! :D

So, I just finished my FRC Mosquito. A few pictures and a few thoughts. First off, what an amazing plane from FRC Foamies. It is so neat to just start folding and before you know it you have a great scale looking plane. I tried the foam finish from Beacon. I put one coat on the top Fuss only, it calls for 2 but I wanted to save a little weight. It added .5 oz to the overall weight. It is great stuff, it makes the MPF surface much harder and what seems like a little stronger. It must have some glue in it because my fingers were sticking together. I added removable landing gear and tail gear. If I fly in an area and do not have a place to land with gear I will just remove it. My total weight is 25 oz. I also made removable aileron servos and covers, I do not like gluing my servos in place, so I use screws. I have not put in the air yet, it is very wet here in the pacific northwest and the fly field has about an inch of water on it. Great if you like float planes. Looking forward to the Warthog MK2.

Wow, Charles, that thing is a masterpiece! Beautiful work! I'm glad the foam finish works well. Second positive feedback we've had. Love the props too. Are the landing gear strong? Can you furnish a link? Thanks for posting!

Absolutely beautiful work, Charles! Fantastic build quality and the finish is just superb. I'd be too nervous to fly such a work of art! I really hope we get to see a flight video at some stage.
Thanks for sharing these inspirational pics!

The landing gear is strong. 2mm piano wire, I placed a 1/32" birch ply plate over the wing spar and that is where the landing force would be directed. If it fails I am either crashing or the motor pod will need to detach completely. If it does not work I will just remove it and belly land.

Hey guys, I am new to the forum and I have just bought the frc foamies mosquito. I think I have everything ready to go, but I was wondering if the motor mount for the rcpowers planes from grayson hobbys will fit on the mosquito?

    Any help is great thanks,

    Dave

The rcpowers motor mount is slightly smaller than ours but you can easily cut the foam smaller to fit the rcpowers mount.
