Very well done. .. know that I've taken notes on this approach too.

The Mosse will be one of my winter builds.

Thanks to everyone for your comments on this build. I'm calling it quits for the day as I've been at it since 0700 and I've got an ice hockey match to go watch tonight

Today's progress has included fitting of the rudder and elevator control rods as well as designing and installing a steerable tail wheel.

My parts finally arrived today so the next thing to do will be to hinge the control surfaces and then install the aileron servos.

    Finally, the props have arrived!
Time to experiment with the setup.

    NTM 28-30 motors each with a 35A ESC. Going to try 10x6, 10x7 and 11x6 2-blade MA's and then 12x6x3 MA.

I'll put up the results later today.

Progress has been dreadfully slow. Between waiting for parts and work getting in the way, this is the first I've been near the plane in over 3 weeks.

Got a deadline to meet now as I want to get a maiden flight in tomorrow afternoon

    Initial runs carried out:

    Turnigy 3s 4000mah 30-40c

    12x6x3: 58.97a pk 678.2w pk
    11x7x2: 48.05a pk. 547.4w pk

I didn't use the 10" props as I felt they didn't clear the nacelles enough.

    Opinions on the setup?

Finished all the setting up and a little bit of cosmetic work. and we're all set for the air test tomorrow.
I'll finish filling the gaps and get it painted after the maiden.

Video of her first engine run:

    Full power runs:

Loving the sound of the motors :D

Holy moly! That sounds so real! Amazing! This is so beautiful, CeeKay! I must ask a couple questions, hope you don't mind.... It looks like the right engine's brake is on since it doesn't really run down at all, it just stops. This could yaw the plane in flight! It also looked like the right motor throttled up slower. Did you calibrate each esc's throttle range individually ? I wish I could be there to see this!

Thanks Greg. I noticed that about the motor too. I had calibrated them together. I'm going to recal them both in the morning before I go flying.

    SUCCESS!!!

Maiden flight completed successfully. Very stable and needed very little trimming out.
Flew with the 12x6x3 props as they looked and sounded the best (it's gotta look the part :) ) but I found that the motors were very hot upon landing so for the next flight I'm going to drop to the 11x7x2 and see if that makes a difference. I'm going to order up some 35-42 motors as well and see if that makes any difference.

I have a video but I (foolishly) handed the camera to my 9yr old daughter who thought it was much more fun to talk all the way through it and the camera work is a little bit nuts. There are photos to follow once I get them emailed over.

All in all, I'm very happy with the build. The Mossie is even better to fly at this scale and I'm really looking forward to getting it detailed and finished properly over the winter.

Glad to hear, CeeKay! Can't wait to see it. Time to duct tape the camera to your forehead!
