    Update #4

This morning saw the final cutting out of all the parts, assembly of the wing spar, fuselage formers and partial fitting of the lower fuselage sides. Really starting to get a feel for the just how big this one is going to be.

Work has to stop unfortunately as Hobbyking still haven't delivered my parts so I can't install the electronics. I am going to take a leaf from John's book and mount the tail servos internally. Can't progress with the nacelle build either as I'm waiting on my U/C to arrive and I'll have to design a mounting plate for them to sit on. I thought it would be better doing this before I start assembling the nacelles.

    Photos of progress so far.

On another note - tried to fit it in the car and it's just too big to go in. OOOOPS!

Oh well, just have to "borrow" the wife's car when I want to fly this one!

It's too wide for my Polo but the other car is a Touran so I can fold the rear seats away.

Knew I should've gone for the Golf lol

What's the best type of filler to use for these models?
I want to give this one a really smooth finish and hide all the fold lines.

Haha, no chance in a polo! Even a golf would be tight!

That's lookin really good! Minor details like how to transport it are nothing to worry about! Haha. CeeKay, this is the way I mounted my internal servos. I used the dubro micro pushrods. You may need thicker ones like the . 042 size. But some flexibility may be good so that the linkage won't bind at the extreme positions...

Thanks for the photos. That's similar to what I was going to go for but made with 2mm rod. I was considering using control snakes but I think this will be the better option.

I'm also going to fit pinned hinges on the control surfaces just to take advantage of the robustness of the model.

Slow progress on the building front as I'm still waiting for Hobbyking to deliver my parts (hinges, motors and ESC's) but at least my undercarriage has arrived.
These are from the ASM kit of the DH88 Comet so they are as close as it's going to get to a Mossie!

Wheels are possibly a bit too large (100mm) but I think they'll look ok once fitted. If not, I'll keep the frames and put some 75mm ones on.

I'm in the process of making a plywood mounting plate which will go through the nacelle spine and I'm planning on bracing this above and below with some ply.

Photos to follow of the installation once I've cut the plates.

Thanks. I have to admit I'm excited about it. If only those parts would arrive from HK then I could get on with it!

    Update #5

Spent this morning making and fitting the undercarriage. Doesn't look quite as large as I first feared. Just need to fit the nacelle covers and make adjustments for the u/c.

Next stage will be fitting to the wing and then laying in the wing servos, motors and ESC's ImageUploadedByTapatalk1410596762.340519.jpg ImageUploadedByTapatalk1410596774.579367.jpg ImageUploadedByTapatalk1410596826.108006.jpg ImageUploadedByTapatalk1410596840.459361.jpg ImageUploadedByTapatalk1410596856.171105.jpg ImageUploadedByTapatalk1410596887.303749.jpg

Brilliant work, CeeKay! You really get sense of just big this girl is going to be, seeing the engine nacelle dwarfing the A3 cutting mat it is sitting on! I hope you have a plan to get the completed plane out of the house, without knocking a wall down...
    Cheers, John

    Thanks John.
Getting out the house isn't an issue, it's getting it in the car that's the problem!

Need to suck up to the wife and borrow her car when I want to fly it
