I Did and do most my paint for the overall bodies just freehand, using just those 3oz spray cans u see on my table of Shortcuts Foam safe spraypaint, no airbrushed what so ever, bc when I broke my neck and back and became paralyzed for six months, I sold my good compressor and all my airbrushes ans equipment. :( ...then, after I spraypaint the builds, I will TLC (tender loving care) the remainder of my build with paint and shaprie waterproof markers then clear coat the whole thing with short cuts clear coat, for another layer of added protection, with minimal, added weight etc. Hope any of my helpful tips and hints may help even just one of u out, then I will be a happy camper, Capice?!*;) Cheers.

    Thanks Dave.
I'm definitely thinking about having low throws on the rudders- scared myself when I saw how much movement I had during setting it up!

Currently cutting out the KF4'S and once they're fitted, I'll get the colours added in preparation for the maiden flight

image.jpg Thank you Guys for your kind comments.
I am an absolute beginner when it comes to airbrush painting, anything but I am learning and experimenting. What I have so far is an $75 mini-air compressor from Harbor Freight which included the air brush gun, hoses etc. To clean the gun without making a mess I bought a SCP-700 Sparmax cleaning pot from Hobby Lobby. To use the cleaning pot you put the tip of the gun Into a rubber seal and shoot excess paint into the pot. The pot has a filter so that none of your paint fumes escape to atmosphere, this means you can paint in the living room. The paint is "WATERBASED ACRYLIC" mixed 50/50. Water based paint works very well on MPF, is very easy to clean and is less toxic than petroleum based paint. Here is my X-32 Guppy paint booth. image.jpg image.jpg

Worked for me, except that I also tossed in a box of Oreo cookies and a puppy.

I'm up for that. Your scheme on the f-18 was my inspiration. Normally I'd always paint military aircraft in an authentic scheme but after seeing how good yours looked, I figured that it was time to make an exception.
Besides, the Alliance is kinda military..... :)

Oh nice! I didn't quite get the color right, but from 50 feet away its close enough! I started the Star Wars theme on my first Alpha Jet and it worked so I try to incorporate them whenever possible.

Looks awesome! I have the same compressor but it's hooked up to a 5L air tank to reduce any moisture coming through the line.
