Wow, Jay, this side by side picture really shows how good of a job you did with the Score N Fold design work!

  3. No kidding! To my eyes, the score n’ fold looks better even.

Last 2-3 days did not do much really so got a chance to get out of office early today and I have everything cut out now! Will start building hopefully over the weekend if my foamtac arrives by then...

  5. Well, not to brag about it but having a CNC definitely does help. Took me about 45min to cut all 4 sheets... prepping the plans is what takes long time. I am excited to start building! will keep you posted :D

I have to say that my Laser Cutter (typical Chinese K40 machine) is worth its weight in gold. I am now considering a much larger machine as the 20 x 30cm work area of the K40 is not quite enough.

I don't usually use it for one of foam builds as the time to vector the parts is more than time to just use a sharp blade ! But for repeat work - its marvelous.

I will be transferring the Lanc and Mossie smaller parts to Laser templates.

Oh - near forgot .... pal handed me the full size printed plans today ... we now have a friend with a 500 Series plotter can print any plan basically we need ... FREE ... well actually a bottle now and again.

Andy Timmons made these for our Lancaster. He says he is going to work on a V2 next.

Guy laser scanned the Hobby King Lancaster plastics ... they are up on Thingiverse ... anyone who's good with 3D editing could sort those I reckon. I know the canopy was not manifold - and I couldn't repair it no matter what I tried.

I have an unused plastics set from HK ... but no scanner !! I keep meaning to create Plaster moulds for 'hot pop-bottle' moulding ... but never got around to it.

  9. Building has begun! Had very little foamtac left over so finished the fuse inner structures:

Dry fitted the fuse skins and everything fits super snug!

Jay, as I am building this plane along I can see the amount of work went into just designing the plane let alone testing... I would say that this could be your “the” best design yet (just like the apple marketing guys - “this is our best design yet” :p)

Thanks malukk, glad you are liking the build, it did take a long time to get things right and countless changes. So glad we went with the removable wing though!

Wow, look how crisp it is! How's she fitting together so far?

  13. Thanks! Every part fits perfectly and snugly so she goes well together really well. I do have one small recommendation to fix in plan. Rib #7’s slot that fits the tail section needs to be a little bigger so I had to cut that out to make it fit. The measurements in the pics below with explain what I am talking about. ~10mm cutout needs to be added to the rib #7. Other than that everything in fuse is perfect!

If I find anything in wings, I’ll report back. Just finishing with the spar...

You know what, I changed up that slot at the last minute and must of forgotten to change the rib. Thanks for pointing that out! I'll get on it.

That is very neat building KK:)

  16. Thanks Ian! :) this is definitely the first biggest “score n’ fold” foamie I have built.

Jay: would we be able to thread the motor wires thru after installing the wing skin or should I first do that and install the skin last? Same goes for servo installation for aileron?

I installed the electronics first, even ran motor extensions and left them extra long until I attached the nacelles. The wing skin was the last thing I put on.

  19. Thanks! Got done with the wiring last night, just the servo installation remain and then I’ll seal her up!
