I didn't weigh it and I should've. I also should've taken pre flight photos but I was excited to get it into the air. Next build will be much slower and I doubt I will add gear even though it put weight in the nose.

You can have a control horn on one side with a 2mm push rod bent into a u shape and glued between each elevator or you can do like I did add run two servos had have a push rod on each side. [IMG][IMG]

Happy Birthday to the Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II. First flight on this date in 1972.

Looking at that video reminds me that I've still got to build this one!

Waaaaaah! Took my Hog out for a spin tonight. 30a esc smoked in the air. Hard nosey belly landing. This sucker is tough. No damage to the nose and very little damage to the bottom of one v stab. Fixed in about five minutes. Now a 40a should do the trick. I've gone to 40a in all my other planes. Only had a 30 around when I built this. Well, it worked for awhile.

That's what we like to hear, homey! Not that your esc smoked(that's too bad), but that the plane is tough enough to take the beating and still survive.... Like the real thing! We tried to build this into the design. I destroyed my mk1 at JettaManDan's a couple years ago, but it took 3 good impacts. Still flew after 2 impacts. The structure is still good so if I spent 45 min it would be fixable. Thanks for the report and happy flying!

have enybody seen plans for a A-10 made with edf, i know they not as efficient but i think it would be cool to know the engines were the engines

We do scale score and fold designs in order to keep the process simple and light while still looking good. The added weight of the twin edfs instantly adds 20 extra oz to the build. This will make an edf build really advanced and a score and fold depron build probably wouldn't survive the first landing. I myself wouldn't want to fly a plane worrying whether it will still be in one piece after I land it

I have Mikey's A-10 3/4 's build and should have it going in a couple of weeks. Right now, I am making sure the 64's are working together so they are reliable (on a transport) and will then install them and finish up. As F1 said, it is not a simple build and it takes some redesigning so it will end up lightweight.

look at the flite test forum, Nerdnic has plans and a build log for DTF. It looks really great, just a lot of work for a foamy.

Finally started my build today. Loving the way it goes together. It looks impressive even from these early stages.

Not sure if I've done this wrong, does it matter if the tail reinforcement pieces go on the top of the tailplane?

No, as long as the tail is stiff, CeeKay, top or bottom is ok!

It's safe to say it's well stiffened. Triple CF rods in there and double thickness depron (as per plan). I kinda thought that thst with the reinforcing pieces n the top, they would act like a KF2 on the tail.

Incidentally, I forgot to mention that I've gone for a bit of super - detailing on this one. All will be revealed soon. (once the glue sets, lol)
