Over the past year or so Jay and I have given several planes the MK2 treatment: The SU37, F15, Alpha Jet and now the A10 Warthog. After flying a plane for a while we start to think what we would tweak based on our experience and feedback we get from our FRC pilots. Better looks are always a consideration, but better performance is a must! With the FRC A10 Warthog MK2 we have Both!
Some features of the New A10 MK2:
    • The MK2 is about 20 % larger than the MK1! We scaled up the A10 so that the depron thickness is not as much a factor as it was on the MK1. Its bigger but sleeker!
    • Not only is the main wing a score and fold airfoil, but it's a DIHEDRAL score and fold airfoil! Jay pulled out all the stops in sketchup to design a strong score and fold wing with an airfoil and dihedral shape!
    • The Nacelles are not only more scale looking, but are also stronger. Twin motors anyone?
    • The cockpit is larger and easily fits up to a 3000 3s battery. There's also plenty of space for electronics

This looks amazing!! I love the look of the wings and the nacelles. Is that an electronics bay in back too? I like that the motor is pulled more forward too. Any reason for not having full-span ailerons?

Excited to see a flight video! Tell us how the flight compares to the Mk1.

This Winter I'll have to build this. And, when I do I'll use depron rather than MPF and a flat spar in the wing (maybe two) it if will help it structurally. And, of course a rudder! Looks like your elevator design would work for full-height rudders too which would probably be even better than the ones I have on my Mk1. Although with the motor pulled further forward and the verticals extending out further I'd have to probably come up with a different rudder mechanism to get it not to hit the prop. Maybe just having the horns at the hinge line rather than the back of the rudder would work fine.

Oh, and I just noticed no ballast up front. Does this one not need that to balance?

Jay is flying the prototype (and extremely well I will say!) without ballast and the CG is much more forgiving. He says he'll edit some video shortly so watch out for some excellent flying! I saw his raw footage from this morning and WOW!!! I'll be building the final version this week to confirm some final tweaks.

Yes, I'll finish off the video tomorrow hopefully, it flys awesome and looks so good when you are doing strafing runs at yourself! Inverted is just as stable as normal flight lot's of room in the rx and esc compartment along with a launch handle!

I was just about to start cutting the depron on another A-10 when you announced this. OBVIOUSLY that's now cancelled in favour of this great looking project.

Thanks guys for keeping me occupied this winter

And here I am building the Mig29 V4 thinking where am I going to put this, space is getting really min...got to be the last one for a while, then out of nowhere the A10 Mk 2 shows up always loved this aircraft, never did build the Mk 1 but don't think I will be able to resist this one.......Hmmmm maybe a couple of ducted fans...:)

Ahh man - my A10 is not yet dry from painting and you guys bring out a MkII! Never mind, it will mean i can make more of a dent in my box of Depron that's taking up space in the garage (and convert it into something not flat that will take up even more space in the garage! ;) )

Looks great - really like the wing design from the pictures,

Haha, we have the airfoil on the dehavelland Mosquito too and it works well! The internal bracing Jay came up with is pretty ingenious - strengthens the wing and shapes it too. The airfoil/dihedral wing seems to have soften the cg requirements on the A10 which is great since it makes a rotary canon (ballast) optional. Jay is working on video of his flights now!

Sorry S7oneyuk! We're still a couple weeks away from release so fly the heck out of the mk1!

I actually planned a proper airfoil for my Mk1. The Mk2 looks so good with it and will fly much "smoother" in the air! Like my FRC F-18. I really like the features of a true airfoil.

Wonderful Jay, I have to try a Diff thrust system on this one, after I'm done with the original single motor version.
