Hi, Newt. Just a question about CoG. When I will set the CoG at the leading edge of the wing, what wing I will use? The upper or lower wing?

Hi, Greg! This is Silvio from Brazil. About The Beast CoG: when I will set the CoG at the leading edge of the wing, what wing I need to consider? The upper or lower wing?

To start I think I balanced the plane on the upper wing spar. So that would be my starting CoG. Once I got it trimmed then I started moving it back a few mm at a time in order to get the performance that I like.
I usually start out a little nose heavy and get a feel for how it flies. That way I can land it easily. Tail heavy planes can be a little tricky to land.
    Good luck!

Thanks a lot, Newt. Great. I will use the same config for motor, Esc, battery and prop like yours.

Newt has one of the best beast set ups I've seen, Silvio. If you follow his advice it'll fly great! Marks a great pilot to. Mark, any more flight video of the Beast you can post?

Thanks Greg. It is a very nice design. Guess it just suits my style.
I'll check and see if there are any more videos of it. If not I'll try to shoot some tomorrow.
That video was shot for me by my friend Tony. He is a talented photographer and has great equipment.

Here's a video I shot with my head-cam. You can see the difference when I move the CG back.

Very nice, Newt! I liked a lot this video and the others I had watched before. I decided to build one FRC Beast when I saw your videos. Thanks for posting and thanks for Greg and Jay for the design. Now, let's go to electronics and set up it! Best regards.

Mine was about 25 oz painted with 2200 2s battery. Flies great at that weight!

Thanks, lysle42! I think mine is heavy after painting. 15 oz. Anyway, I will try to finish it and fly. Cheers from Brazil! Silvio.

Hi, Newt. She flies great, man! This one was made by myself for a friend of mine here in the flight park. He loved this bird at first sight when I was building the mine one, hahaha... This afternoon was the maiden flight (sorry, no video). A small adjustment in the CG and bingo... Awesome flight!
Now I need to finish my Beast. I decided to cut another foam because in the first attempt I exagerated in the painting (ughhh)! Anyway, after the flights of this afternoon I am really excited to build the mine one and enjoy.
Thanks a lot for the tips and have a good night!

I also would like to say - thank you very much - to Greg and Jay for the awesome design! Sure, it is a lot of fun!

    Silvio
