I have been looking for a long time for the plans for the Mig 31 Firefox from the Clint Eastwood movie Firefox.. I want to build an EDF model but I can work with prop driven plans.. Can you help me?

The plans I have are posted above as a downloadable attachment. This specific plan may be very hard to convert to EDF...but give it a shot!

Just watched the movie again last night the 1st time in years! I wanted my boy (14) to see it... but having grown up in the super computerised graphics & special effects era he was not exactly 100% impressed!

I enjoyed it so much that i also want to build one now!:)

mine never flew great....so be careful if you build it with thrust line...mods to the design to make it a standard mid mount would be beneficial....

Don't know if i was dreaming last night... but i'm convinced the canards actually changed sweep angle when they prepared for dog-fight?

Oh well... i'll just have to watch it again!:p:D;)

If I get a lot more free time on my hands I might try to build my own PDF plans but until then it would appear we are all out of luck when it comes to the Mig-31 Firefox, at least for a score and fold 3D version.

welcome...as i stated above...if i were to build again i'd modify the design..cut some of the center out and make it a traditional mid mount pusher.

I retrofitted the RCPowers F-35 v2 with 70mm EDF and it has thrust vectoring by the way I laid it out. It flies great!

I'm wondering about a similar thing for the Firefox with twin EDFs and the back part of the wing plate in each nacelle could be made into an elevon control surface to work along with ailerons in a 4x4 setup . I would have to figure out the opening size of each engine nacelle and figure thrust requirements to size the EDFs etc.

I'd be worried about a few things. Size of the EDF's would be important for power. I'd also (for how this stock plane is designed) to find room for the electronics. I had a hard time even fitting what I needed for a one motor setup. At the very least I'd size the plans up to 120% to help give you the room for what you need. Twin 55's would fit now but would be underpowered I think. You will have to increase the top fuselage box area for sure as well. Some challenges. But would love to see a flyable one fof the these as a jet for sure.

hope that is enough..50mm EDF's are notorious for low power at lower RPM..you really need to get them WOT to make it work well. 4s is a must if you fit those for sure. Then you have a shot! Good luck. Would love to see it done.
