If you built your plane more heavy, don't rev up the kV rating! Higher kV -> smaller Prop with higher end-speed but lower acceleration. So if anything, if the plane gets heavier and has more wind resistance go DOWN with the kV.
Regarding your 5vs8mm Depron question, do you have experience with 5mm being too flimsy? 8mm is massive in comparison (33% thicker than the 6mm everybody else is building with) while 5mm is only 17% thinner - so if you don't want issues with all the plans not fitting together I would recommend you to stay at the 5mm depron (if you have flimsyness issues, consider taping along the parts you wish to stabilize on both sides, should make that area MUCH more rigid.)

Finally, a milestone has been reached!
    Time for electronics.

    The Motor is mounted.

2 MG's moved easily from my old workhorse (Su-30V4) with a single snap. Zipties makes life easy.:)

Wildthing--what's with the "happy" control surfaces? It looks like Spaceship One on reentry.
Airflow--Bold choice. It takes a secure man to use pink tiewraps.
Meh, just jealous. You guys are going to be flying in no time. Planes look way cool--have great flights!

Haha! NP. Pink is a common color, when having three daughters between 7 and 14 yrs:)
BTW. I blame the DollarStore for their pink zipties. ;)
I will not maiden this one yet, I have a MIG 2.88 to maiden... standing ready, waiting for calm weather... only two days left, otherwise I have to wait until next weekend...:(:mad:o_O!

  7. Just for that I am building the SU-35 V5 last. :D

  8. Just go with the 5mm Depron, you could almost cut out on the line of the plans and not know any different.

Dave and I are building away and really enjoying the whole process.
This is what we were thinking as a paint scheme for our F-15 V5.

So I know all you guys have your favorite glues dialed in... but I just wanted to give a tip for newbies wanting to do a "fast and ugly" plane. So I use hot glue as much as humanly possible. It's not the best glue for all situations on the plane, but I try and inappropriately use it everywhere. One place that I would recommend not using it if you are trying to make a nicer plane is anywhere that you'll want to sand and bevel. It doesn't sand well so for the areas of the plane where you'll want to round the edges, I recommend 5 minute epoxy or... insert your favorite glue here.

    Wildthing,
Hmm, could go with the "Argh, what have I done?" or with the cliché "Saving the best for last, eh?" Which to choose, which to choose . . . ?

    Airflow,
Three girls? Oy! Fly now before the boys start hanging around . . .

    "Fingers" (aka Shannon),
Nice build. I'm with you--hot glue, just as little of it as possible. The stuff is heavy.

    Fly safely, all y'all.

I like it, simple without a lot of masking job!

Here's my choice. But not until the maiden is done...
Very simple, just a little paint here and there, the rest Depron white.:)

Love it... this will look real sleek. I like the simple paint jobs so you can get to flying faster ;)

Here's our tape job before we paint her. Kind of looks like she's going in for surgery ha!

Oh man, I've been out of the RCPowers loop for a little while now since I've been flying quads. This plane will definitely bring me back! I've been waiting for an F-15 for a long time now. I worked them for 12 years before I got forced to move over to F-16s. I can't wait to start the build on this one after I get back from my trip. So many mods I already want to do.
