With a 7x4 APC the numbers are looking good for maiden. Screen Shot 2016-05-09 at 1.48.42 PM.png

  3. Numbers are one thing but I think that 7" prop on the little Turnigy is to much for it, it performs great with the 6" one. I swing that 7" prop with the NTM 2836 2200kv and a 60A esc and works awesome.

Thanks so much for your feedback! If I like the 2200kv and the parameters of the 7x4, is there a better brand of 2200kv motor anyone would suggest instead of the turnigy?

I realize the 6x4 gives it a wider range of speeds at a cooler temp but at less thrust to weight ratio and I have a lot of 7x4s on hand. I went with the 7x4 to compensate for the 120% scale up and the additional weight of a 2200 mah lipo and mobius cockpit camera, and I don't necessarily need/want the aircraft to achieve its top capable speed. Am I wrong in this thinking?

Falcona - Looks great. Can you show us a shot of your camera installed? Good luck on the maiden - can't wait to see it in action.

Thanks Dennys, I sure will. I successfully maiden today!!! The camera panning on the cockpit looks just like a jet fighter pilot moving his head with every movement. It was such a success I have a ton of footage to process to condense it to a nice short movie clip for everyone.

It was a little windy but it handled it like a champ when it mattered the most, and man does it look good in the air! Sunlight constantly beaming off of her, just a beautiful sight to take in. I brought along my friend who is a Navy Pilot to film from my iPhone camera and even he was impressed by it which says a lot.

    Hey Everyone,
Thank you for all the help and input. I got two great flights even though the wind was pretty gusty. The airspeed change from upwind to downwind was significant and the plane handled well on turns with minimal altitude loss. At maximum throttle and pitching down for airspeed on some passes I saw some wing tip flutter, but hopefully some tape reinforcing the elevon will minimize it.

It launched right out of my hand at 50% throttle into the wind, and almost seemed to wait for me while I got my hand back on the sticks. I can't wait to get out and fly this plane some more. Sturdy and strong, no stress launch, and is really fun to fly. The video will describe it better then I can, enjoy.

Thanks!!! It was a ton of fun to build and even more fun to fly. Can't wait to visit some other locations with more geographical features soon.

Denny's here is the close up of the cockpit camera. Its sitting on a foam plate attached to a servo connected to the rudder channel. IMG_6482.JPG
