Beautiful, Ian. I have to ask what you used on the wings to make them so slippery? Looks fantastic!

    Hi Peter,
I use coloured packing tape, there are a large variety of colours to choose from.
I have found by trial and error you can shrink the tape with an iron once it has been applied to the foam which gives a bit better torsional rigidity and the heat makes the glue adhere to the foam better. The iron will also take out some of the wrinkles.
Using a credit card piece of foam will help to squeegee the tape down.
BBUUUTTTT, you must be careful not to get the iron too hot or the tape will shrivel up. You can tell when the iron is just a bit too hot as it will take the shine off the tape.
    Cheers,
    Ian.

Excellent, I thought it was tape. Looks like a pro job.

That`s been said before. I think it was Ferdinand Marcos:D
But for a person without a printer and want to build a quick AN2 the score and fold nose you did is perfect, if not a bit too long and the prop sticks out too far:D

I was going to do the whole fuselage with tape but it can get a bit heavy on smaller models.

  8. Annie flew today, temp -9, wind 30k with gusts up to 45K. She is rock solid in the wind, couldn't be happier. :) . Video uploading now. :)

  9. Annie test 30k wind with gust up to 45k at a chilly -9 (Andy ) Annie handles the wind like a champ and is solid as can be , take off once I got it faced into the wind was like 2 feet and airborne she was. Very impressed with how it flies.

I flew Little Annie the 890 mm wingspan version of Jeff`s AN2.
She weighs 11 ounces without the battery.
It is powered by a 2212 1000kva motor, 20amp esc and will fly with 1300 or 1000mha battery although she likes the 1300`s best.
Not the most aerobatic plane in my collection but it`s not meant to be.
She will roll (sort of ) Loop and fly inverted.
Getting her inverted is more difficult than flying it upside down as the weather was below freezing and my thumbs were in numb mode.
After the 9 minute flight there was still 3.85 volts in each of the 3 cells.

It turns out that the maiden flight of Little Annie WAS captured on the mobius.
The batteries were so flat it wouldnt play back.
I will post the maiden flight when the videos are uploaded to Youtube.
It was pretty windy and I hadn`t got the correct CoG, so flying was a bit difficult.

  12. That's awesome, I didn't try inverted yet but I will now. You only have ailerons on the upper wing right? .

  13. Roll is slow on mine also even with ailerons on both wings but it isn't a 3D flier

Yeah, I`ve got almost a full strip aileron on the top wing if I go more than tick over it will roll faster, but it`s quite exciting to see if I will come out of those huge barrel rolls without hitting the floor.
She is a nice steady flyer and doesn`t like to be flown like a Pitts, that`s for sure.
I`m looking forward to some warmer weather, although it looked tropical out there this morning I can assure you it was cold for England with ice on the creek.

No, enjoy her for what she is, a slow flyer.
I have a 2212 1000kva motor in mine swinging a nine inch prop on just about tick over. Not only can you see the prop go round you can count how many times:)
I was hoping to warm my hands on the battery when it came out of the plane but it was cold. 3.85 volts in each cell after a 9+ minute flight:)
I wonder what she will do with a 2200mha battery? I will have to wait til it warms up.

Here we go with the maiden flight from the other day, which I thought was lost due to battery failure in the mobius.

I chucked her back up after making a battery alteration. It was nose heavy.
I`ll get the other video uploaded.
