Get
VIEWS and MONEY with YouTube! (for reals!) (28:48) |
|
|
|
YOUR
HOMEWORK: |
|
|
1)
Get this book as it will help alot in showing you the world behind
the screen in what it takes and how it all works to make it on YouTube.
YouTube:
An Insider's Guide to Climbing the Charts by Alan Lastufka and
Michael W. Dean. |
|
|
| |
|
|
| 2)
Do some YouTube surfing. This is the only way to become familiar with
it. Find who is popular right now and start reverse-engineering their
success principals. Also, go into the "polices" and all
the boring stuff and be familiar with that as well. |

Dave's
8 Tips and Tricks to get |
|
YouTube
Views and Subscribers! |
|
| |
1)
Be CONSISTENT!
Most of the successful people on YouTube post a new video 1-3 times
a week. Just like your favorite TV show is on at the same time every
week, so this regularity really helps get you views and subscribers. |
|
| DaxFlame
is a perfect example of JUST STICK WITH IT! |
|
| |
|
2)
Be CHANGEABLE!
Listen to your viewers! Read and reply to your comments and
messages.
Know your Subscribers! Go into people's pages, figure out what
kind of people they are and what they like and don't like.
YouTube Insight! Use this function in YouTube to see where
your views are coming from and track trends.
Know some basic Myers Briggs psychology. This is my biggest
key to success if I had to pick one. You better believe I'm gonna
be covering this big time in the future videos because if you really
know how do use and master this, you will be unstoppable. |
|

| The
4 Categories (You are dominant in one or the other of each
one) |
|
| The
16 Possible Personality Types |
|
| Dave
talks about personality types briefly during the last half of this
podcast here at RCFlightCast.com |
|
| |
|
3)
Your CONTENT!
Do what you know and like best! Only your inner drive and passion
can produce the energy required to work the long hours to become successful.
The best and biggest example of this is Gary
Vaynerchuk of WineLibraryTV.com
|
|
| |
|
4)
CARE!
- This is not about you, this is about your viewers!
- Some of the greatest people on earth are GIVERS! People are attracted
to that!
- People can tell right away if you are in it for yourself (just trying
to get subscriptions, views, clicks, money) or if you are in it for
them. You must first give to get.
- For example, when I ask people to subscribe, it's because I know
if they like this weeks vid, they will like next week. I see other
people produce minimal content and then try and strong arm people
to subscribe. See the difference? |
|
| |
|
5)
Be COOL!
You got to be able to do it all. You have to know how to film, edit,
add some music, be funny, educational, the whole package.
Mr Safety at SMP Films has a
good video on this. |
|
| |
|
6)
Make your Videos CLICKABLE!
Optimize your title, tags, description, links, thumbnail, annotations,
video responses, etc. Seriously, this makes all the difference and
I see MOST people getting a failing grade at this. Look at any of
our recent videos and look at how I do ours. Every jot and titlle
are there for a purpose. |
|
| |
|
7)
Have a CALL TO ACTION!
Ok, you sold me, now what? I usually give people 2 calls to action
at the end of each video: |
|
| |
1)
Subscribe for next week. Again, this is for them. If they like this
week's video I don't want them to miss next week's.
2) Go to the website. I'll put more good info on the website. I'll
make a page, blog entry, blooper footage, lots of stuff like that.
This gives people more if they like what they see on YouTube and can't
wait till next week. Plus, it brings people to my home turf, the website! |
|
| |
|
|
8)
CHILL OUT! Be Patient
Be patient, you are BUILDING A BUSINESS! This takes time, build it
up. Don't sleep until you have at least 1/2inch of forward progress!
Don't let "them" win! The Universe seems to align itself
to try and stop you from getting anything done! Feed on the pain,
work at night, go without sleep, no more parties, give your life up
to make this happen. And then just make sure you have something, anything
done each night. This will ensure that over time, that this will build
up. So work hard, but also chill out and be patient and let it build
up. |

F-35
VTOL Research |
|
| Attempting
a vertical take off and landing (VTOL) project is the hardest frontier
in RC in my opinion, at least for me I know it is. I spent much of
2005 and 2006 trying to get about 10 different VTOL models to work
and I had minimal success with all of them. I then put the project
on hold. For the past few years I have been collecting and storing
ideas and concepts in this field. |
|
| |
|
| I
have learned from the success of the high alpha SU-35 and tailless
X-36 to test all the many systems separately. Build one idea on the
other and don't move on until the foundation of the plane is mastered.
This is exactly what I am doing with the VTOL and here is a rough
outline of my plan in the order of what systems I need to master first: |
|
| |
|
| |
1)
SIZE. I need to figure out what size to build the plane. Do
I need it to be small and overpowered or large and floaty? |
|
| 2)
FLIGHT CONTROLS. What controls do I need? Spoilerons or flapperons?
Elevator or elevons? Rudders or Vtail? |
|
| 3)
CENTER OF GRAVITY. Do I want the CG far forward to keep it stable
or tail heavy to keep it super maneuverable? |
|
| 4)
STALL. I know I need it to come in on approach and NOT tip stall
in anyway. The airframe and control systems as just an airplane need
to make this plane very stable. |
|
| 5)
GYROS. What settings do I need the gyros at? Aggressive for hovering
and soft for flight? If so, how do I adjust them in flight? |
|
| 6)
I plan to have one motor in the back and one in the front behind
the cockpit. Will I be able to turn the front fan on and off ok? |
|
| 7)
Will the front fan be able to get enough air through the intakes to
equal its lift to the rear motor? |
|
| |
|
| These
are just a few of the basic issues and questions I need to master
one step at a time to make it work. As each one is mastered it lays
a foundation for the next step to build off of as I have learned with
the quick success principals of the SU-35 and X-36. |

Learn
to Fly RC Planes (Class 1) (17:08) |
|
This
is our first week of Beginner RC Airplanes Class. We are just doing
a fast overview of how it all works so you can have an idea what you
are getting yourself into. There are generally 2 types of planes we
do: |
|
|
|
| |
|
| 1)
Scratch built Foam Planes |
|
| We
build these out of Depron, EPP, Blue Core, whatever. Its about $20
worth of foam and we just transfer our electronics from plane to plane.
It cost a few hundred to get started when buying your first radio,
motor, batteries, servos, etc, but in the long run we save the most
money building our own planes and reusing the same valuable electronics
over and over. |
|
| |
|
|
| |
2)
Ready Made Store Bought Planes (ARF, Almost Ready to Flys) |
|
|
| If
you look on our website in the AIRPLANES TOP 10, you will see the
planes from NitroPlanes.com fit this category. Here you buy and entire
or partial package that cost %70-200+ every time you buy one. The
parts are interchangeable and you can sell the stuff you don't need
on ebay or even transfer them to a scratch built foam plane. |
|
|
| |
|
|
| There
are endless options to get started. We will be covering all this in
more detail in the coming weeks so you can make a confident decision
when starting off with RC planes. What we are focusing on is whats
best for you in the short and long term to maximize your flying time,
and minimize your crying time (spending too much money!). There are
very efficient ways of doing all this and that's what we are sharing
in this weekly series. Come back to this page every Thursday! |

How
much money can I make online? Pt:1
(17:26) |
|
|
|
|
Our
Internet History:
September 2005 - September 2007
We made, cut, and shipped RC kits.
September of 2007
- June of 2008
We researched and formed the
new business plan which is
what we are doing now which is
basically "Internet Video Marketing"
if you were to give it a name.
June/July of 2008
to today (January of 2009)
We are making a full time living from our
website and YouTube videos.
Bottom line, our current
income depends on
the amount of TRAFFIC / VIEWS we get
per month, much like a TV show.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Hey
alright, glad you can join us on our new "Internet Business"
show. Making money online is NOT easy, in fact it's one of the hardest
businesses out there because it's so new. Every year millions of people
try to make a full time living and only a few ever succeed. The reason
for the super low success rate has everything to do with the personality
make up of the person in my opinion. If you have an obsessive, chemically
unbalanced drive to succeed at all cost, you will succeed no matter
what. It may take you 3-10 years, but your success is dependent upon
your research, ability to problem solve, create, work, and just make
it happen some way some how! |
|
|
|
|
|
We
know how hard it is as we have had to go through many hardships during
our 3 years to get on our feet. We are not the biggest stars on YouTube
or the Internet by far, but we sure are the biggest Internet and YouTube
stars in our niche of RC airplanes. We are almost doubling in views
each month, we love what we are doing, our viewers and customers like
us, and we are charged up with creative energy for the future. |
|
| |
|
| |
|
| What
I want to do with this new weekly series (every Monday), is to help
you with your Internet business. I absolutely can tell you real work,
trench proven tactics, to get more traffic to your website, how to
find advertisers, and most important of all, have a place where your
Internet friends (your viewers) love to come. |
|
| |
|
Notes
from our first video: How much money can I make online? Pt:1 |
|
1)
How Much can You Make?
Short answer: As much as you want. What you put into it is what you
get out of it. There are many ways to make money online, for example,
the top players in YouTube are making over $100,000 a year just from
their YouTube revenue alone. Most make more money from their websites
and other media engagements outside of YouTube. Look
at this |
|
| |
|
| Here
is a sample month for us right now: |
|
| |
|
RCPowers
Business for December 2008:
- AFFILIATES: We brought $45,000 to our 7 affiliate companies
(we keep %5-10 of that)
- Google Ads: 05 - 12 cents per click (x thousands of clicks
per month)
- YouTube Ads: Pay per impression (x time a couple million
views per month)
- Our PDFs and EBOOK: ($8-13ea x a couple hundred sales per
month).
- This equals to; we pay all our bills and are now able to start paying
off debt and saving again! |
|
| |
|
|
| |
This
is from 6 months of working on it full time, 3 years of learning it,
and 8 months of study, market research, experiments, BEFORE we ever
launched it! Please do not think this comes easy or quick! It's very
hard brain work but it is possible for all those who have the intuition
and drive to succeed. |
|
| |
|
|
| |
2)
Count the Cost:
I see most people failing because they somehow buy into the "pet
rock" myth. It goes like this, "Well some guy invented a
pet rock and then he made like a million dollars and is retired!"
Yeah, you might want to look into that, this is not how it, or the
world works. Anything looks easy when you have no idea what the details
are to make it happen. This is what I call the "lottery approach"
to business. All I have to do is just think of a "great idea"
get lucky, and I will have a check in my mailbox for a million dollars. |
|
| |
|
|
|
To
really be successful at this is, is as hard or even harder than starting
your own successful brick and motor shop in town. DON'T buy into the
myth that making money online and "easy money" have anything
to do with each other! This is a real business that must follow all
the real business principles of the "real world." This is
why it's up to you to first UNLEARN all the business myths that we
all pick up, then do your homework to learn how this really works,
and then make and execute a successful plan. It's just that easy,
yes it's just that hard. |
|
|
|
|
|
Here
are some of the hardships to expect:
- Count on 6 months to 5 years (sometimes 10) before you are making
money online full time.
- It really takes 12-18 hours a day, 6-7days a week, to really make
some forward progress.
- At times, 80% of your time is spent learning new programs, fighting
the cable company, replacing crashed hard drives, etc x 1000. This
is why I choose to work mostly at night. I deal with "issues"
during the day, and I work and move the business forward at night
after everyone goes to bed. Murphy's law will kill you if you are
not ready and expecting it.
- Most of your friends will not get it. They will still want you to
come play all the time and think that now you are your own boss, this
means you can take all the time off you need for them. Multiply this
by however many friends you have, and you can literally find yourself
getting absolutely nothing done each week. It's tough, but you have
to guard your time for your work. This is why alot of super successful
people have terrible relationships. Look at Donald Trump for example...
see what I mean here? It sucks, yes I agree, but it's part of the
real world.
- Have a lot of money to put INTO your business! And however much
you think you need, times that by 100 and you are good to go. This
is why it's best to keep your day job as long as you can. YOU are
your own best investor. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Here
are some POSITIVES to expect!
- You work long and hard but are full of energy because you are working
your dream into reality with your bare hands.
- You lose alot of the "frill friends" and develop super
close friendships with a few. You have gone from 50 willy-nilly people
to a handful of life long friends who you will do anything for, and
them for you. PLUS, you gain countless new Internet friends!
- Other people of similar interests begin to gravitate toward you
and your business! They like, buy, encourage, promote, and share your
work. This is very encouraging and drives you to do more.
- You work long and hard, but you are in control of your schedule,
your life, your work, your sleep. Do you need to take a 3 hour nap
in the afternoon? Do it. Do you work best from 11pm to 6am? Do it!
- You begin to see a few dollars come in. Perfect! Even if it's $5
a month, you can now easily double that each month. This adds up and
grows with time. Set micro-goals and enjoy the miniature accomplishments.
This will keep you happy and sane
- You are building a residual business. You put in some hard years
into this and create a "money making system." Your hard
work now pays off in the future. |
|
|
|
|
|
3)
You HAVE TO do Your Passion!
Only your passion, obsession, favorite hobby, inner rage, fire, whatever
you call it, can empower you with the endless energy source needed
to do the impossible. You do what you LOVE and you put your all into
it! You work the long hours not just because that's whats needed to
make forward progress, but because you can't sleep! You wish you can
work 24 hours a day and never sleep because you love it so much! Yes,
its hard, but its building toward a bigger plan. You know all this
hard work is going into your business. Your ideas, your dreams, they
start to come alive. Imagination and vision have become a reality.
